The translation of narrative fiction requires both the mimicking of the original author’s style, as well as the creation of a smooth sentence flow. It requires the translator to balance a loyalty to the original foreign-language text with the need to create a seamless, natural-sounding text.

 

Literary translation requires a different form of language than audio-visual translation: The quality of the writing, among other things, becomes much more important. In contemporary texts, it is especially important to be aware of the forms and registers of slang.
